"When designing Somni-tune Miku, my immediate thought was to take inspiration from designs from the more recent Camellia songs. The most prominent inspiration is Hiasobi, with the gradient hair forming flowers at the end and the sheer top. The halo and long flowing sleeves with ribbons were taken from Seimeisei Syndrome. Even with the inspirations I still wanted to make the design fit in with the older Miku albums where the design doesn't deviate from the classic Miku design (other than Stance on Wave) so I kept elements of Miku's original design too."
"Synth wanted this art to fit in with the rest of the Miku albums, so I decided to take on the challenge of replicating the art style mostly using digital watercolor brushes. I like the cover art so I decided to use mikUbiquity as the main inspiration for the background and composition, mirroring Miku's position and drawing a similar pencil-sketched city background. After I was done I handed the art over to Synth to add the circles reminiscent of paroxysm (this was his idea), adding some more visual interest to the art."Synthix. / シンシクス。
"There was a lot of contemplation and experimentation behind the visual effects (VFX) I did for the bubbles in the background of Somni-tune. I originally thought to use circular shapes specifically like the ones in Michno-sequence's background, and 'fractured' visual displacements and discolorations like in the backgrounds of TRIPPERS and honeyginjerale; but ultimately, I decided to take the most inspiration from the circles in paroxysm. My own creative twist on the parxoysm-styled bubble VFX concept was incorporated in Somni-tune by adding lots of intricate design and patterning within the circles instead of just overlaying a ton of circles with different coloring/blending. And honestly, it was really fun to do that! —but it took quite a long time... (10 hours actively)."
"We had the idea to make a booklet image + CD design for this concept album too, but I knew with the bubble VFX that I was doing, it would take way too long... Though, the timelapse video and this website were entirely manageable and a nice touch to make up for the other images we didn't do for this project."
"And lastly, I just wanna thank and appreciate Spinny for taking up the challenge of doing a detailed artstyle that wasn't their usual, for being so creative, cooperative, and supportive in this whole process as well, for bearing with how long I was taking on my graphic design part of the project, for everything regarding Somni-tune.
